The Office of Tribal Government Relations works with American Indian leaders to help their tribes in the state. It looks for ways the state can work with tribes to improve life for all of South Dakota. Roger Campbell is the present commissioner. He was raised in Rosebud, South Dakota. He is an enrolled member of the Pomo Tribe of Covelo, California. He served in the United States Marine Corps and graduated from South Dakota State University. He also directed a program to help Oglala Sioux tribal members buy homes for themselves on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
